“I think this speech will be one for the ages. My personal favorite: a new age of responsibility, especially in the context of an honest assessment of our entitlement programs. Obama correctly pointed out that it wasn’t just the greedy few who caused our current economic pain, but it was also due to our collective failure to make hard choices — which I took to mean the cost of the government services we want to consume, vs. the cost of paying for them as we go. If I’m right in thinking that he is primarily thinking about entitlement programs as Baby Boomers now retire, then I’m ALL IN. If he also means the way we consume energy and healthcare services, ditto. I hunger for alignment and honesty, and I get the feeling that Obama means to deliver those qualities.”
