LeadershipJot.com is a blog about leadership in business, politics, organizations, and society. Leadership is evident in nearly every facet of life. Whether you’re talking about teams and groups or family and friends, leadership is known, experienced, and followed. Leadership can be hard to define and easily known. Leadership is not a science. There are no formulas or set procedures. Leadership is an art. Leadership is also a journey. A lifetime of experience contributes to one’s leadership. It is through exploring leadership that I intend to know and live it. So, LeadershipJot.com is a journal about my exploration of this vital topic – Leadership!
If you are new to my blog, I recommend that you start by reading some of the articles, which you can find here, and by subscribing to my RSS feed, which you can learn about here.
My name is Jonathan Frye. I am an information technology (IT) professional with experiences from the US Army and the Defense Industry. With a breadth and depth of experiences, I am exploring a new medium of expression through this website.
I have been able to learn about people through many experiences and in unique circumstances. My experiences include working as part of a neighborhood policing program in the city of Madison, Wisconsin, and working along side immigrant workers in a furniture factory for a design and build company. I have traveled extensively through USA, Europe, and Middle East. And, yes, I have also been in the midst of combat zones in both Afghanistan and Iraq (well, as close as a computer guy can get). I have interacted with people with diverse levels of education from the ones who dropped out of high school and to those with Juris Doctors (and six-figure student loans). I am always surprised to see the similarities are more than the differences.
One thing that I have always noted: people are always looking toward and looking for leaders. From the lady who heads her own corporation to the rebel who is always changing his style, they are always searching for leaders. Even the loner in school or the workplace, he is looking for a leader too.
There is a scarcity of leaders in our world today. There are many who purport themselves to be leaders and there are a few who tout leadership when it is convenient to further their ambitions and mask their egotistic goals. Do not misunderstand; there are a few genuine leaders. However, there is also a growing void.
With an over abundance of information readily available through the Internet, cable news, and more periodicals than anyone can ever find the time to read, we have an absence of information about how to be a leader, how to develop leadership potential, and how to mentor future leaders.
I am exploring this topic of leadership, I am writing about this topic of leadership, and I am striving to live the life of a leader. This blog is my journal to jot about leadership and leaders.
You may contact me through my email form for speaking engagements, publication requests, or just to drop a note. I will answer every email as soon as I am able.
